Funeral services will be 11AM Monday, August 19, 2013 at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for James Avery Pruett, age 81, of Gadsden, who passed away on August 15, 2013. Pastor Dan Mattox will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.

Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of services.

Mr. Pruett worked for Gulf State Steel until he retired. He loved to travel, as well as camping and fishing. He loved to garden and listen to classic music from the 40s and 50s. He enjoyed playing guitar and harmonica and enjoyed watching birds. He was a great provider for his family and was loved by us all. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by Bernice Pruett, mother; Russell Pruett, father; Alene Pruett, stepmother; Darrell Pruett, son; Robert and Nina Akridge, father and mother-in-law; Ray and Ollie Pruett, grandparents; Hazel (Coy) Woodall and Virginia James, aunts; and Bernie Pruett, uncle.

He is survived by Rhona Pruett, wife; Glenis Pruett, Hope (Johnny Snow) Pruett, daughters;  Avery Slaton and Alivia Snow, Delania (Terry) Boyd, and Deanna (Fernando) Rengifo, grandchildren; Denny (Sandra) Pruett, and Randy (Ava) Pruett, brothers; Annette Pike, sister; and Faye Johnson, aunt.

Pallbearers will be Denny Pruett, Johnny Snow, Craig Pruett, Randy Pruett, Steve Burgess, and Dale Johnson.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 4PM to 6PM at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home.
